Day 2 of our Singapore Trip was supposed to cater for lost times of Day 1, meaning we would need to make sure to visit China Town and Gardens by the Bay on top of our original plan which was Singapore Zoo, to which we thought would be easy.

Breakfast was in order and today was an easy pick, we saw a restaurant in the National Museum that piqued our interest when we visited it the day before. So we brisked walked ourselves back to the museum — this time to appreciate the other type of art, the culinary kind.

Lets just say our breakfast was made for warriors…

Breakfast at Food for Thoughts

And since there were two restaurants inside the museum we ended up grabbing dessert in the fancy looking one at Flutes Restaurant Bar, good thing we were just there for dessert as all tables were already booked before hand and they couldn’t accommodate us if we planned to eat a full meal. We quickly understood why its a sought after place cause their dessert was divine!

After our quick dessert, its time for us to head out and go to the zoo, for this we needed to ride the MRT and disembark to a bus station which will bring us straight to the zoo. The whole travel time took around and hour from the hotel, which was still pleasurable as the train and the bus weren’t as crowded at the time.

Once we got there, its time to get us our tickets. You can choose between Jurong Bird Park, Night Safari, River Safari and Singapore Zoo, each has separate fees. Given we’re already planning on going to Underwater World and we’re not big on birds and we have issues with animals at night we just opted to go with the Singapore Zoo.

Singapore Zoo is a 26 hectare wildlife park situated in the Mandai rain forest that extends to the Seletar reservoir. There are more than 2,800 animals inside the zoo, species ranging from mammals, birds and reptiles.

The animal habitats are big and spacious as the animals have enough space to roam around. Most of the habitats have special viewing platforms which allows the guests to see the animals up close without actually disturbing them.

Prolly my favorite part of the attraction was the polar bear. Luckily we were able to see it during its feeding session.

After more than 5 hours of non-stop walking, we were able to visit almost all the attractions, all but the reptile house as per my friend’s request, we skipped that part of the park all together.

Tita instincts were already kicking in by this time so we opted to call it a day when we marked the last attraction in the zoo and decided to head back to the hotel for dinner (which means no more China Town and Gardens by the Bay). We were so tired we decided to eat at the first restaurant we saw upon exiting the MRT station, it was a fancy looking restaurant (which coincidentally is part of another museum, the Singapore Art Museum). We had high expectations given our earlier experience with Flutes and Food for Thought and boy did it deliver — it was probably the most memorable meal we had during the whole trip (not to mention the most expensive) but it was worth every penny.

I can still taste the saltiness of the parma ham & the prosciutto…

So if you happen to pass by the Singapore Art Museum, make sure to drop by Trattoria Lafiandra, the staffs were nice and the food is amazeballs.

Energized by the awesome-sauce that was our dinner we had a bit of energy left to burn, so after freshening up, we decided to go — where else? but Sephora in Ion Mall. After some perfume shopping and face mask shopping in Lush, we decided to call it a day.

With 24,000+ accumulated steps, Day 2 of our Singapore trip was a success, which we will fondly call as Museum Food Appreciation Day + Zoo – next stop, Theme Parks!
